Meet WoodmenLife’s April 2024 Sure Start Winner

WoodmenLife is committed to offering training to Representatives to help them grow and have the tools they need to best serve our members. Qualifying new full-time Representatives are invited to Sure Start, which helps them kick off their careers with WoodmenLife. During the 12 months following their Sure Start training, these Representatives have a friendly competition with their classmates to see how well they put their lessons into action.

Get to know our April 2024 Sure Start Winner: Miles Vance of Bristol, TN.

Congratulations on your Sure Start victory! How did you celebrate?

I celebrated by going out with my family. I was also humbled to be recognized by my office and my Recruiting Sales Manager.

What inspired you to choose a career with WoodmenLife?

My father, Mark Vance, set an example of a successful career with WoodmenLife. He’s been a Sales associate with the organization for a long time, and I have also been a WoodmenLife member since I was born. I was drawn to WoodmenLife’s values, its opportunities and the fact that it feels like a family.

Have you always wanted to pursue a career in sales?

Absolutely! I have been involved with sales since I was young. We all promote ourselves in whatever we dedicate our hearts and minds too. Now I get to use that experience to help protect families’ financial futures.

What drives you to deliver great service for your members?

The fact that members trust me enough to protect their families’ financial futures means a great deal to me. Great care for your members means great business.

What does success look like to you?

Success to me is knowing that I gave that day, my members and my family my very best.

Tell us a little about how you’re involved in your community. Why is community outreach so important to you?

I am active in all sorts of things around the community. Our chapter does a lot locally. Community outreach is crucial, as our identity is closely tied to our community. Be active and make a difference.

Do you have a particularly memorable moment from your time so far with WoodmenLife?

Yes, during my first week, two things happened. First, I wrote my first Family Term application for a family with whom I’m very close. It felt great knowing I was going to be a part of protecting the family and their financial future. Second, my father brought me into his office and showed me his Sure Start trophy. He challenged me by saying, “I don’t know if you will win it or not, but you only get one chance.” Knowing that my father had won this before me and that I have won, it’s one of the most special awards I could have earned.

What are your goals for the future?

I want to continue building on what I started. I also want to keep growing our organization by sharing the WoodmenLife story.
