WoodmenLife is committed to offering training to our Sales Representatives to help them grow and have the tools they need to best serve our members. Qualifying new full-time Representatives are invited to Sure Start, an interactive training event that helps them kick off their careers with WoodmenLife. During the 12 months following their Sure Start education, these Representatives have a friendly competition with their classmates to see how well they put their lessons into action and compare their sales achievements.

Congratulations on your Sure Start victory! How did you celebrate?
I have not finished celebrating yet! I celebrated with my family over dinner, and I plan to celebrate with my team at our next state meeting. I will probably celebrate this accomplishment for a while!
What inspired you to choose a career with WoodmenLife?
I was a stay-at-home mom of four — two boys ages 14 and 5, and my twin girls are 3. I wanted a job so I could contribute to my family financially. WoodmenLife has really made that possible! My cousin has been with the organization for several years, as well, so that helped me get my foot in the door. This past year has far surpassed any expectation I had!
Have you always wanted to pursue a career in sales?
I can’t say that I ever saw this coming, honestly. I thought I was going into healthcare management — that is what my degree is in. But right now, I know that this is where I am supposed to be. I still don’t consider myself a salesperson — I am in the relationship business. For me, sales come from making connections and building trust and rapport with the people I help.
What drives you to deliver great service for your members?
I always try to follow the golden rule and treat others the way that I want to be treated. I want people to remember me for how helpful and kind I was.
What does success look like to you?
Success is achieving goals and growing. I want to grow a little each day somewhere in my life. Every day I want to be better than I was the day before. As long as I am doing that, I think there are no limits to how successful I can be!
Tell us a little about how you’re involved in your community. Why is community outreach so important to you?
My local chapter — shout-out to Chapter 100 in Carrollton, GA! — we are always looking for ways to help in the community. Our chapter has been able to make several donations this year to nonprofit organizations that help the homeless population, Veterans and schools. I have also done several flag presentations this year.
Do you have a particularly memorable moment from your time so far with WoodmenLife?
The connections and friendships that I have made this year are definitely the most memorable. I have great managers who have been so encouraging. Our team is just awesome. Winning the Sure Start Trophy, though, will be the highlight of my year!
What are your goals for the future?
Growth! I want to grow in this organization and go wherever that takes me.
