WoodmenLife is committed to offering training to our Sales Representatives to help them grow and have the tools they need to best serve our members. Qualifying new full-time Representatives are invited to Sure Start, an interactive training event that helps them kick off their careers with WoodmenLife. During the 12 months following their Sure Start education, these Representatives have a friendly competition with their classmates to see how well they put their lessons into action and compare their sales achievements.

Congratulations on your Sure Start victory! How did you celebrate?
My husband took me out for a nice celebratory dinner.
What inspired you to choose a career with WoodmenLife?
I was a hairstylist for 14 years and loved connecting with my clients — helping them with their hair while also solving the world’s problems. When that chapter of my life closed, I wondered what was next. My brother-in-law, WoodmenLife Recruiting Sales Manager Clint Davis, always made his job look like so much fun, so I asked if he thought I could work for WoodmenLife. He said yes and that I’d love it. (Don’t tell him he was right!) Now, I still get to help others and give back to the community, all while making my own schedule. With three small children at home, I’m especially grateful that my work fits around my family’s needs.
Have you always wanted to pursue a career in sales?
If you had told me five years ago that I’d be selling life insurance, I would have laughed.
What drives you to deliver great service for your members?
At WoodmenLife, it’s so much more than just selling a policy. While providing life insurance is impactful for families, for me, it’s really about helping them with their specific needs — taking what they can afford and finding the policy that will benefit them the most.
What does success look like to you?
Thirty years from now, I want our members to look back and be grateful they chose to be part of the WoodmenLife family.
Do you have a particularly memorable moment from your time so far with WoodmenLife?
Yes! When Hurricane Helene hit and devastated western North Carolina, I was blown away by how quickly and generously our chapters responded — no questions asked. They gave in so many ways, from financial support to clothing, food, and supplies, and even volunteered their time to help. I will forever be grateful for all the chapters that stepped up and gave so selflessly.
What are your goals for the future?
To grow WoodmenLife membership while making a meaningful impact by giving back to the community.
