For Sales Representative Demi Gray in Houma, LA, life insurance is deeply personal.
She grew up seeing families struggle after unexpected loss, often without any financial protection in place. “I’ve seen families and friends have terrible things happen, and they were not financially prepared,” she said.
Those moments stayed with her. They shaped how she thinks about responsibility and caring for the people around her.
Gray remembers watching communities rally to raise money for families in crisis and how heavy that burden felt. “I got tired of seeing people beg others for money to help or have fundraisers,” she said. “While I love supporting the community, this should not be the community’s responsibility.”
Life insurance helps families by putting a plan in place before hardship arrives.
Gray wanted to be sure she didn’t face the same hardship, so she purchased life insurance for herself and her family. “I’ve always felt it was my responsibility to take care of me and my own,” she said.
Her experience shows how life insurance helps families feel secure and ready for the unexpected.

Before joining WoodmenLife, Gray worked as a certified phlebotomist, drawing blood and conducting life insurance medical exams for several companies.
She felt a pull to step into a bigger role helping people get life insurance. “I felt I could do more,” she said. “I thought, why not me? Why can’t I be the person they look to for help?”
That motivated her to get licensed and join WoodmenLife’s Sales Force.
Her previous position had given her an up-close look at different insurance companies, and WoodmenLife stood out.
“I chose to work for WoodmenLife because I love how they serve the community,” she said. “I had never seen that before with any life insurance company. They truly care about people.”
She quickly saw that it was the right move. “The support is great,” she said. “I love how we help the community and promote the need for life insurance coverage. It really is a win-win.”

Today, Gray shares her story with the families she meets.
She knows how painful loss feels and how overwhelming those first days can be. “We cannot stop death. The day you find out someone is gone can be the worst day of your life,” she said. “We try to make that day a little easier. What we do matters.”
For Gray, helping someone set up life insurance coverage is an act of care. It brings comfort long after the hardest moments have passed. “We can at least make sure those left behind will not have to worry financially,” she said. “If we can make life a little easier during a tough time, then that is what we are really looking to accomplish.”
Gray is proud to help families in Houma put life insurance protection in place because life insurance helps families when it matters most.
“Having life insurance is the last act of love you can show for your loved ones,” she said.
