Home Office Happenings

WoodmenLife is excited to celebrate our third quarter Make It Count award winner: Joan Kash, Bilingual Customer Service Representative, for going above and beyond to help a member.

Joan demonstrated that every customer counts when she helped a member resolve an issue with a third-party organization after her husband passed way.

Each quarter, WoodmenLife presents the Make It Count award, which recognizes outstanding associates who make positive impacts with internal and external customers. These individuals bring the organization’s mission to life by demonstrating WoodmenLife’s core values of passion for members, service to others, inclusion, collaborative spirit, and open-mindedness.

The member called Customer Service with an inquiry, and Joan informed her that she’d receive refunds for premiums still being paid for her late husband’s certificate, even though the death benefit was already paid.

The member said she wasn’t making the payments, so Joan researched the issue more deeply. Her research revealed that the payments were coming from another company for the benefit of the member’s late husband.

Joan contacted the member with this information and gave her a phone number to call. Unsatisfied by her experience with the other company, the member called Customer Service again and asked to speak with Joan.

Joan researched more and found an alternative phone number for the third-party company. Then, Joan set up a conference call with that company, the member and herself. They were able to resolve the issue during that conversation.

The issue wasn’t ours or Joan’s to handle, but Joan took it upon herself to provide the member with second-to-none service.

“Not everyone would do this,” Joan’s nominator said.
