What Are the WoodmenLife Heart & Heritage Awards?

Through our chapters, WoodmenLife presents a variety of awards that recognize outstanding acts by local individuals and organizations within their communities. These awards celebrate those who demonstrate our values and make positive impacts in their communities.

Each WoodmenLife chapter can order one of each type of award annually. This allows chapters to recognize deserving individuals and organizations across different categories throughout the year.

Who Do They Recognize?

The WoodmenLife Heart & Heritage Awards recognize quiet heroes who work behind the scenes, community leaders who inspire and guide others, civic organizations that drive positive change, educators who shape future generations, and schools that serve for learning and growth.

They are designed to honor those who “do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do.”

A Personal Perspective

“The WoodmenLife Heart & Heritage Awards are more than just recognition — they’re a celebration of the human spirit,” said Community Outreach Advisor Ashley Kitzinger.

She has seen the impact of these awards in the Alabama South region.

“One year, we gave the environmental award to a student who saw a need for recycling in his community. He started his own recycling organization, collecting cans and plastic bottles to help in his community. It was exciting to be able to recognize a student who saw a need and took charge.”

The Heart of Our Community

Whether it’s a lifesaver, an environmental champion, or a youth showing community spirit, these awards remind us that heroes walk among us every day. They are our neighbors, friends, and community members who embody the values that make our society stronger.
