Announcing the WoodmenLife 2022 Intrapreneur Award Winners

WoodmenLife is excited to announce the winners of our 4th Quarter 2022 Intrapreneur Award, which celebrates associates who develop and implement and innovative initiative such as a new service, process or improvement that adds value to the organization.

From generating new ideas, identifying problems and opportunities, and presenting a specific innovation solution to the problem, we celebrate our 4th Quarter 2022 Intrapreneur Award winners, Steven Cusumano (Assistant Actuary), Justin Stein (Assistant Actuary), Robyn Bredvick (M365 Program Lead), and Pat Haugland (Security Engineer).

Steven Cusumano and Justin Stein, Actuary Division

Cusumano and Stein had process improvements that reached “legendary status” in the Actuary Division. The division had very calculation-heavy programs that took hours, even days, to run, and they could output millions of rows of data.

By vastly improving some of these processes, Cusumano and Stein took it upon themselves to learn a new programming language that they used to build new, modern processes. The new processes are better documented, less error-prone and easier for new associates to learn.

Communications like email, text and chat have strict requirements for Registered Representatives. Last year alone, the Securities Exchange Commission imposed fines of more than $1 billion on firms that didn’t follow these sorts of regulations. WoodmenLife policy prohibits Registered Representatives from chatting in Microsoft Teams.

Automating the process saved other associates time and decreased the chance of error. The new process is now run daily, increasing its overall efficiency. Robyn and Pat helped WoodmenLife increase our compliance and decreased the time spent reviewing chat communications. Their actions showcased the importance of being an Intrapreneur and how we challenge our minds to find a solution to grow WoodmenLife.
