At WoodmenLife, we support those who served our country and work to make our communities better.
We’re proud to share the success of our Outstanding Project of the Year, which brought music, hope, and help to Veterans in western Kentucky.
When major storms strike, people who are already having a tough time struggle even more. This happened to many Veterans in western Kentucky after a tornado struck in 2021.
The idea for the 2025 Outstanding Project of the Year came because Chapter 592 in Murray, KY, wanted to find a way to help those Veterans.
WoodmenLife Representative Rachel Brown helped Chapter 592 organize a free two-day concert at the Paducah Riverfront. More than 3,500 people came to the event, which raised $17,000 in donations to help Veterans with counseling and housing.
“The chapter wanted to create something that would bring the community together while addressing a real need,” Brown said. “Many of these Veterans lost their homes in the 2021 tornado, and we knew we needed to step up.”
The project brought together multiple organizations. Chapter 592 led the effort, with support from regional chapters that provided donations. The chapter members handled everything from setup to performances to cleanup.
During the seven months of planning, the chapter teamed up with VFW Post 6291 and Freedom Productions, a music company.
The concert began with a Celebrating Red, White & Blue® event, during which volunteers displayed an oversized American flag by the stage.
The project showed how WoodmenLife cares about helping others, with 80 people volunteering their time.
“Chapter 592 has shown that by working together, they can accomplish positive things and make a difference in their community,” said Robby Molony, WoodmenLife’s Vice President, Fraternal. “Members of the chapter and volunteers deserve a huge congratulations for their outstanding work.”
WoodmenLife chapters keep finding new ways to help their communities and honor our Veterans.
The concert collected donations and helped more people learn about what Veterans in the area still need.
“This project represents everything WoodmenLife stands for,” Molony said. “It brings together our values of family, community, and country while making a real difference in people’s lives.”
