WoodmenLife was honored to be the Latino Heritage Preservation sponsor for Casa de la Cultura Omaha and the 2025 Cinco de Mayo (CDM) parade. This year celebrates 105 years of Mexican festivals.

The partnership was established to grow WoodmenLife’s connections within south Omaha, which has a high Latino population. WoodmenLife also supports Casa de la Cultura’s historic preservation initiatives, said Pacific/Midwest Regional Director Tyler Lawrence.

“It’s a really exciting partnership for me because there are so many things happening in south Omaha with the growth 24th Street,” he said.

As part of the partnership, WoodmenLife had the opportunity to show its support for the south Omaha community by walking in the Cinco de Mayo Parade on May 10. More than 20 Home Office and Sales associates volunteered to carry a banner, toss out stress balls to parade-watchers, and spend time at WoodmenLife’s tent after the parade to talk with people passing by.

They are both wearing sunglasses in the bright sunlight, and the woman on the left is also wearing a hat. They have an arm around each other, and the woman on the left is holding up two fingers like a peace sign.

Through this partnership with Casa de la Cultura, Lawrence said WoodmenLife will fund two internships within the organization.

“Our donation is directly funding two interns who are working on collecting data and writing research about Latino heritage,” he said.

Lawrence said it’s imperative for WoodmenLife to partner with Casa de la Cultura to showcase its commitment to inclusion, while also showing its support for the Latino community.

“It’s important for large companies in the cities where they live to not only employ people but also support the various communities within the greater community,” he said. “One of our core values is inclusivity, and we want to make sure we’re including everybody.”
