WoodmenLife, in partnership with the Omaha Parks Foundation, has donated more than 100 American flags for display in various Omaha, NE, parks.
A ceremony took place on June 13 at Miguel Keith Park and Memorial. Among those in attendance were WoodmenLife President & CEO Denise McCauley, Omaha City Councilman Ron Hug and Parks and Recreation Director Matt Kalcevich.
The park that hosted the ceremony holds special significance. It’s named after fallen hero LCpl Miguel Keith, a U.S. Marine from Omaha who was posthumously awarded the United States’ highest military decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his heroism serving our country during the Vietnam War.
The partnership between WoodmenLife and the Omaha Parks Foundation highlights our shared mission to serve our community.
For the Omaha Parks Foundation, that means improving and preserving city parks, programs and community centers , as well as contributing to a healthier, more connected Omaha. The foundation recognizes the vital role of the parks system in improving the lives of all Omaha residents, fostering economic development and promoting healthy lifestyles. As the City of Omaha has expanded, so has the need for parks, trails, playgrounds, and recreation programs.
WoodmenLife also actively promotes patriotism in communities across the country. We are committed to honoring our country and those who protect it. WoodmenLife is one of the largest distributors of U.S. flags, second only to the U.S. government.
“Patriotism is an important part of WoodmenLife’s mission in serving the community, and we are proud to provide these flags to fly in Omaha’s parks,” McCauley said. “It is rewarding to contribute to these beautiful spaces throughout Omaha and to honor our country and those who serve.”
Since 2010, WoodmenLife and the Omaha Parks Foundation have proudly displayed nearly 300 flags in Omaha parks, community facilities and golf courses through their joint efforts.
Tiffany Regan, Executive Director of the Omaha Parks Foundation, expressed her gratitude for WoodmenLife’s support of patriotism in Omaha’s parks.
“The flags will proudly display throughout Omaha’s parks to honor those who fought and continue to fight for our country. We greatly appreciate WoodmenLife’s support of patriotism in our parks,” she said.
