WoodmenLife Celebrates Hunger Action Month This September

Sep 4, 20249/4/2024

Fighting Hunger

At WoodmenLife, we believe that no one should go hungry.

This September, we’re excited to join Feeding America® in celebrating Hunger Action Month. It’s a time for all of us to come together and make a difference in the fight against food insecurity.

This month is a reminder that every little action can help create a future where everyone has enough to eat.

Understanding Hunger Action Month

Hunger Action Month is all about encouraging individuals and organizations to take meaningful steps to support those in need.

Did you know that 44 million Americans, including 13 million children, struggle with food insecurity?

Throughout September, we invite our WoodmenLife associates, members and their communities to get involved in various activities that can help fight hunger.

Getting Involved in Hunger Action Month

Since we launched our National Community Focus of fighting hunger in 2015, we’ve seen incredible support from our members.

Together, we’ve collected over 1.3 million pounds of food and raised nearly $3.7 million in monetary donations.

Our members have helped with everything from stuffing backpacks for students to serving meals at community kitchens. These efforts not only provide immediate relief to those in need but also strengthen the bonds within our communities.

Why Fighting Hunger Matters

Rural communities make up less than two-thirds of all U.S. counties, but about 90% of counties with the highest food insecurity rates are rural. Many of our WoodmenLife members live in these rural communities.

We understand that hunger can lead to serious consequences, affecting health and educational opportunities. By addressing this issue, we’re helping to build healthier, more equal communities for all.

Fighting hunger is close to our hearts at WoodmenLife, and as we celebrate Hunger Action Month, we encourage you to join us in this important cause. Share your stories, participate in local events and help raise awareness about food security.

Together, we can work toward a future where no one goes hungry. We’re proud to stand with our communities in the fight against hunger, and we’d love for you to be a part of this mission!
