Partnership With First Responders Foundation Will Help Expand Reach of Services

WoodmenLife is proud to be named the Exclusive National Life Insurance Partner of the First Responders Foundation.

The nonprofit organization based in Omaha, NE, works to support the mental and physical health of First Responders and Veterans. In April, WoodmenLife President & CEO Denise McCauley visited the foundation to meet the team, tour the facility, and learn about the many programs offered.

Supporting Heroes

“The First Responders Foundation serves First Responders, Veterans, and their families,” said Todd Sears, President of the First Responders Foundation.

It does so in three ways:

  • Mental health services. These services are imperative for Veterans and First Responders, Sears said.
  • JAVELAN Service Dog program. This program provides funding and training for service dogs for Veterans and First Responders.
  • Brazilian jiu jitsu gym. Originally created to provide a non-striking martial art for law enforcement, the gym is now open to members of the public who wish to learn self-defense.

“First Responders and Veterans have unique stressors that most people can’t understand,” Sears said. “The clinicians we work with all grew up in a First Responder household, so they can have conversations from beginning to end.

“Across the country — wherever there’s a need — we train on suicide prevention, resiliency, sleep recovery, and more.”

Expanding its Reach

Sears said through WoodmenLife’s extensive reach, the nonprofit hopes to create more First Responders Foundation chapters across the country.

“With the network WoodmenLife has, we’ll be working to establish chapters in those communities so they can help the First Responders in their neighborhood,” he said.

The support of WoodmenLife has had a positive impact for the First Responders Foundation, Sears said.

“WoodmenLife’s been an incredible partner for a long time, and the mission of WoodmenLife matches up well with ours,” he said. “We’re really excited about this partnership.”
