In an emotional display of community spirit, members with WoodmenLife Chapter 6023 came together to support Jay’s Hope Foundation in Macon, GA.
Recently, they discovered that people had broken into the foundation office, stealing gift cards and funds that were meant to help families facing cancer.
Georgia Central Community Outreach Advisor Glenda Davis led the project. She had a personal connection to the cause through her grandchild’s battle with cancer.
When Davis learned about the break-in and theft, she suggested donating $5,000.
“This is more than just a donation,” Davis said. “It’s a way for us to show our support and compassion for families facing cancer.”
The chapter was inspired by Davis’ idea and the urgent need to support the foundation and their community.
Chapter members, WoodmenLife Regional Director Jason Taylor and Representative Jessica Dennard all worked together to support Jay’s Hope Foundation.
“It’s important for us to actively seek out ways to support our community,” Taylor said. “We want to be part of the solution, not just bystanders.”
Chapter 6023 members believe the best way to be successful with community involvement is to go out and look for needs in your community.
Dennard reflected on the chapter’s motivation, saying, “We want to make an impact in our community, especially knowing what families go through when dealing with cancer. It’s about creating a support system for everyone in need.”
Through their combined efforts, the chapter, COA and Sales Force made a meaningful impact on those going through a difficult situation. They showed that together, they could create positive change.
