Since its start in 2017, the WoodmenLife Focus Forward Scholarship® program has recognized more than 4,600 young members across the United States and awarded $2.7 million in scholarships1. This year, WoodmenLife awarded 571 scholarships, ranging from $500 to $10,000.
Reagan plans to study Animal Science at Texas A&M University. She has served as the ASTA Future Farmers of America (FFA) President, Alamo District FFA President, National Honor Society (NHS) Vice President, and Helotes 4-H Unlimited President during her high school career.
Guided by her passion for animals, Reagan served as a Texas Youth Livestock Ambassador and a member of the Norman Borlaug Youth in Agriculture Program. She has also shown goats and lambs for the past nine years and volunteers in the community by hosting goat and lamb showmanship clinics. She also goes to local food banks and mentors students on her FFA teams.
“I am so grateful to WoodmenLife for giving me this scholarship,” Reagan said. “This money will go toward my future college education at Texas A&M University studying Animal Science. It’s scholarships like this that allow kids like me to chase their dreams!”
For Macey, this scholarship will go toward her college tuition at Murray State University. Her goal is to receive her Bachelor of Science; from there, she will pursue a doctorate in nursing to become a nurse practitioner.
Macey has been a varsity cheerleader throughout her entire high school career. She is a member of Kingdom Baptist Church and Interact Club and Distributive Education Clubs of America. She was also selected to be a bender at Dance Blue where the donations she received for the cupcakes were donated to support kids with pediatric cancer. Additionally, Macey has volunteered with Interact Club to donate toys to the Regions Bank/WPSD Spirit of Giving Toy Drive.
Macey believes that the WoodmenLife Focus Forward Scholarship program helps to remind students, like her, how communities truly care about education.
“Thank you for selecting me for one of your generous scholarships,” Macey said. “I am honored to receive this gift. I am thankful to WoodmenLife for its efforts to make pursuing an education affordable for deserving students. I hope that I can, one day, pay this opportunity forward to someone else and make a difference in a life as WoodmenLife has done with mine.”
